Matheson Wetlands Fish Rearing System

Matheson Wetlands Fish Rearing System

Moab, Utah

Jones & DeMille Engineering assisted The Nature Conservancy and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in developing a project to increase recruitment of wild-spawned razorback suckers (Xyrauchen texanus) in the Colorado River by restoring river connection and improving fishery management capabilities to the Matheson Wetland Preserve’s pond system.

Jones & DeMille Engineering prepared a wetland delineation and permitting for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Utah Division of Water Rights, and Utah Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands.

We consulted with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to minimize impacts to other listed species and wetlands, and successfully acquired the necessary permits for the project. Construction of the project was completed in March of 2021.
